I know I mentioned it last week, but I'm going to continue this holiday theme review for this week as well. You guys did a GREAT job in getting me some Suggestions, and I want to make sure I get to all of them by the end of this Thursday. This one comes from follower janis! and leave it to her to give me probably the oddest one in the group. So, I'd have heard of Herb Alpert before, but I'm not sure I'd actually heard anything by him and the band before. This is very new and different for me. It sounds a lot like a cheesy 70's game show theme or maybe movies. The old Newlywed Show theme comes to mind right away. Which obviously really just means they use a trumpet as the primary instrument. They relied on that heavily back in the day, and I'm not totally sure why. It's not like the guitar or piano weren't invented yet. Regardless, this is a Christmas album I think you'd have to be in the mood for. For the most part it's instrumental, so if you like to sing along with your favorite holiday tunes, this might not be for you. If you prefer to sing yourself over a funky holiday beat, this is REALLY for you! I think it's neat. I think I'd listen to a few tracks here and there over the holidays. Listening to it start to finish over and over again wouldn't by for me personally - but I get why some would like it. It's different. And listening to the same old Christmas songs over and over can drive a person mad. So flipmode here, switch it up a little to the Tijuana Brass!
